Below is my personal opinion.
It's a real joy to teach linguists or translators their Core Subject.
Most of such students enjoy classes and are highly motivated, inspired to everything you can propose them:wikis, PPTs and so on.. Rare lucky case. Is it?
It's really a joy to master ESP students, highly motivated to aquire top grades in the ratings and professional language level for their future well-paid job...Right?
At last, there are many low or not motivated students for the 'junk' subject(Engl) we have to deal with...True?
What about teachers?
Teachers need joy and motivation to teach any students and to look for the new ways for better teaching results(via internet or so on).
So, to invest lot's of their personal time (not paid!! or appreciated by colleagues and some students) to design and prepare such 'personal'courses...
There are many teachers - and students!- here think the above is crazy and not necessary, and consider traditional teaching way of formal 'lecture-book-paper-pensil' and 'chalk and talk' easy and best.
I come accross it everywhere here...To give it up?

Hi, Dear Irina! Thank you for post with interesting thoughts! I agree with you that at schools there are so many teachers who do not want to make changes in their teaching and they have to have a maximum motivations and efforts from administrators or professional development teachers in order to show them another way of teaching. They think that it is "easier" to teach with the same lesson plan, chalk, and a lecture as a main strategy. The problem is that students do not want to have the teacher who does not want to teach with critical thinking approaches. They love to share their ideas, to think and to have an individual opinion. We have to do it, because students have to be ready to the real life, be able to think and solve the problems, and take own decisions. Starting from school life they will learn to do it and teachers have to encourage them in this long "travelling" to the real life. Thank you, Natalia
